Theodora was step-daughter of
Maximianus
Herculius. Galeria Valeria Eutropia, his second wife, had her
from a former marriage with a Syrian nobleman (maybe Afranius Hannibalianus).
Maximinian adopted
Constantius
"Chlorus" raising him to the rank of Caesar, forcing
him to divorce from his wife
Helena, and
to marry princess Theodora in AD 292. Her merit as a wife is witnessed
by such an excellent man as
Constantius
so attached to her to make her the mother of three sons and three
daugters: Delmatius Censor (father of
Delmatius
Caesar, and of the younger Hannibalianus), Julius Constantius
(Consul who had
Constantius Gallus
by his first wife Galla, and by Basilina, his second wife, the Emperor
Julian the Apostate), Constantinus Hannibalianus,
Constantia (wife of Emperor
Licinius),
Anastasia and Eutropia (mother of Nepotianus).
